It has been freezing cold outside, so I had to move my plants indoors.
My plants are not the only ones suffering from the weather. My skin had been so dry, and sometimes itchy. I usually use whipped shea butter that I make at home, and it helps moisturize my skin, but then when I shower my skin dries once again.
It was time to switch my body products.
The good thing about being a beauty blogger is that you get the chance to discover new products from all around the world. And today’s products are one example of a small business with big accomplishments.
Moon Mud started with the goal of making a ‘clean’ soap where every ingredient has been consciously and responsibly decided upon. They developed a soap that is palm oil-free, artificial fragrance-free, and used natural colorants. Mud Moor soaps are scented with essential oils and colored with clays, spices, charcoal, and natural root powders.
They have two bundles; Light Side of the Moon and Dark Side of the Moon.
These soaps are specifically marketed towards hand and body but if someone did want to use them on their face they would recommend that they try Lunar for sensitive or acne-prone skin. The charcoal and kaolin clay are absorbent and the essential oils are rosemary and lavender which tend to be gentler.
I got the chance to try Nebula, Meteorite, and Dark Matter soap bars.
They are all bar soaps; so you won’t find bottles of body wash on their website as they are trying to make Moon Mud environmentally friendly and non-toxic.

Nebula Soap Bar
Nebula has a soft floral scent and a pink hue that comes from the Australian pink clay in it. It is great for pulling toxins and impurities from the skin.
Ingredients: saponified oils (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter), lye (sodium hydroxide, sodium lactate), water, Australian pink clay, madder root powder, ylang-ylang, and bergamot essential oils
Meteorite Soap Bar
Meteorite has finely ground coffee beans in it, which makes it the most exfoliating of the bundle. I recommend using it in your morning shower since it helps boost your energy.
Also, it works wonders if you have body acne. My daughter who suffered from back acne has been using this soap bar for 2 weeks; so far her skin is much better with fewer pimples than before.
Ingredients: saponified oils (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter), lye (sodium hydroxide, sodium lactate), water, coffee beans, alkanet root powder, patchouli, spruce, and litsea cubeba essential oils
Dark Matter Soap Bar
Dark Matter is colored with activated charcoal which is great for detoxifying your skin by absorbing dirt and toxins. Charcoal can also exfoliate your skin gently so it’s all-around great for your skin.
I like its fresh lemony scent that comes from the litsea cubeba essential oil.
Ingredients: saponified oils (olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter), lye (sodium hydroxide, sodium lactate), water, activated charcoal, litsea cubeba essential oils.
There is also Helios, the orange one, which contains the annatto root powder, which gives it just a tiny bit of grit, making it lightly exfoliating. Solar soap bar is a moisturizing soap; it has additional oils in it that soothe the skin. Lunar has both kaolin clay and charcoal for better detoxifying your skin.

This soap dish has a modern triangular design that elevates the soap, thus allowing air to flow beneath the bar and keeping it dry. The surface is slightly slanted, which lets gravity do its work routing water back into your sink, so you don’t have a slimy soap. Such a simple and genius design!
The Lunar Landing is made of durable and sturdy silicone, for safe use especially if you have kids around.
My Thoughts
Moon Mud soap has a collection of soap bars for everyone. My daughter loved Meteorite; finely ground coffee beans in it exfoliates her skin gently and helped her get rid of back acne.
I liked Dark Matter the most, the lemony smell is so refreshing, and the soap cleaned my skin without causing dryness or itchiness.
All Moon Mud soap bars I tried lather and bubble quite well, giving a pleasant experience without stripping the oils from your skin, and with 100% natural ingredients.
Remember that you don’t need synthetic additives in your soap to create a lather or to clean, coconut oil helps create a rich lather, while olive oil and shea butter are well known for their moisturizing properties.
If you use synthetic liquid soap in plastic bottles, it is time to ditch those plastic bottles and switch to bar soaps.
In the past, bar soaps used to be full of harsh chemicals and overly-perfumed, but this is not the case now. There are companies out there making the switch to clean body care products, and Moon Mud is one of them. Make sure to check their websites for more.
